Overview:

The DoDham Yatra is a spiritual pilgrimage in Uttarakhand that takes devotees
on a journey to two of the four holy shrines of Hinduism – Kedarnath and
Badrinath. The Yatra is a sacred and life-changing experience that offers a
chance to seek the blessings of Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu while immersing
oneself in the serene beauty of the Himalayan region.

The Yatra starts with a visit to Kedarnath, located at an altitude of 3,583
meters above sea level. Devotees have to trek through challenging terrains and
snow-capped peaks to reach the temple, which is dedicated to Lord Shiva. The
temple is believed to have been built by the Pandavas during the Mahabharata
era and is one of the most revered shrines in Hinduism.

After visiting Kedarnath, the Yatra takes devotees to Badrinath, located at an
altitude of 3,133 meters above sea level. The temple is dedicated to Lord
Vishnu and is believed to have been built by Adi Shankaracharya in the 8th
century. The temple’s main deity is a black stone idol of Lord Vishnu, and the
temple is surrounded by beautiful mountain ranges, making it a breathtaking
sight.

The Do Dham Yatra is a unique and soul-stirring experience that offers an
opportunity for spiritual rejuvenation and personal growth. It requires a
certain level of physical fitness and mental preparedness, but the journey is
undoubtedly worth the effort.
